Newsletter of the Snowy River Ski Club Cooperative Ltd
Doorack Lodge at Guthega in the Kosciuszko National Park
Happy Christmas to all our members, new and old. Before your mind turns fully to Christmas, please take a few moments to read the newsletter and bring yourself up to date with what’s happened in the Club this past year as well as an important change to booking procedures for 2012.
Board Vacancy and Contact Details
Over the last 4 years April Henderson has done a wonderful job as a Board member, acting as Club Providor. Unfortunately, April will not be standing for re-election at the AGM next year, so there will be a Board vacancy to fill. If anyone is interested in standing for a position on the Board, possibly acting as Providor, please contact either myself, Peter Newton or any other Board member.
On the subject of Board members, Matthew Barnard is our new Club secretary, elected at the 2011 AGM. His email address is email@example.com
The Club will shortly be signing a new lease which extends our security. This new lease includes several more stringent conditions which we will publicise as soon as practical. However, one condition that the Board has decided must come into immediate operation, for bookings commencing January 2012, is the following:
No person, other than a bona-fide lodge manager, may stay in the lodge for more than six weeks in total during the winter season, either during a single or multiple periods of occupancy. As soon as practical, members will be provided with an updated copy of the Booking Procedures. In the interim, the winter booking officer, Iris Bramley, has been instructed to ensure that all bookings for the forthcoming winter season are in compliance with this new condition.
Associates for 2012
Just a reminder that booking procedures require associates to be nominated by 31st December 2011 prior to bookings commencing 1st January 2012. The easiest way to do this is simply to send Iris, the winter booking officer, an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking for a Historian
Tony van Vugt, the Lodge’s founder, visited recently and made the observation that the lodge looked as good, and better, than it had been on the official opening on 3 July, 1976. This is really good praise which I think reflects well on all the people over the years who have organised and participated in maintenance work.
He also made the suggestion that given the passage of time, a Club Historian could help to gather and organise stories, photos and other historical material to assemble a history of the Club. This seems like a great idea, because without some effort to preserve the information, we run the risk of loosing a historical perspective of the Club. Do we have a member with some experience in this area who would be willing to contribute some time to the task?

- 18/19 February
- 17/18 March
- 14/15 April
