Summer bookings for the 25/26 season opened on the 1st of June; the summer booking officers (Polly and myself) thought it would be useful to reiterate the changes made to summer bookings to apply for this summer season. These were set out in the Chairman’s bulletin circulated in April this year. The new regime is as follows:
Accommodation rates
The Board has adjusted the accommodation charges. The new base rate (single member bed night) is $22.50, winter and summer, weekday and weekend, to have effect commencing summer 2025/26. And…
- A member bed night, winter or summer, weekday & weekend, will be the base rate.
- The winter guest rate will be 3.5 X the base rate
- The summer guest rate will be 2.0 X the base rate
- The whole of lodge booking rate will be 24 X the base rate.
Whole of lodge bookings
Whole of lodge bookings in summer are proving to be increasingly popular, so much so that they are now imposing constraints on member’s access to the lodge. Whole of lodge bookings are popular because they provide the advantage of exclusive use of the lodge, but typically a whole of lodge booking does not actually use all the beds in the lodge. This conflicts with the principle that, in a club lodge, an unused bed should be available for members to use. In order to balance these competing objectives, the Board has decided to trial a rationing system as follows:
A whole of lodge booking is not permitted for a night:
- in winter; or
- immediately preceding, or on, any public holiday, or
- in January; or
- on any weekend where, in the same calendar month, two weekends have already been booked as whole of lodge bookings
Effective as of summer 2025/26.
